Editorial Policy
This page explains how Open Tribune News articles are planned, written, checked and updated. Our goal is simple: to publish explanations of golf that are accurate, clear and worth bookmarking.
How we choose topics
We focus on evergreen subjects: the Rules of Golf, scoring and formats, how the majors and tours are organized, equipment, courses, technique basics, and the history of the game’s great players and championships. We prioritize questions that readers genuinely ask and that deserve a careful, complete answer. We avoid content that depends on this week’s results or rumors, and we do not publish betting or gambling content.
Research and fact-checking
Every article is researched against primary and reputable sources, including:
- The Rules of Golf, the Equipment Rules and the Rules of Handicapping published by the R&A and the USGA.
- Official websites of the tours, championships and governing bodies.
- Reputable golf media and well-maintained reference works.
Records, win totals and other figures are checked before publication and phrased with a date (for example, “through the 2025 season”), because numbers in sport change. If we cannot verify a claim, we leave it out.
Sources
Each article ends with a list of the sources we checked, with links, so you can verify the information yourself and read further.
Use of AI tools
We use AI tools to assist with research organization and drafting. AI does not publish anything on its own: every article is fact-checked against the sources listed and edited by our team before it goes live. We do not invent personal experiences, quotes or statistics.
Technique and fitness content
Where we discuss the golf swing, practice or physical movement, we keep advice general and widely accepted. It is not medical advice and does not replace lessons; please consult a qualified coach or medical professional about injuries, pain or training.
Corrections
We take accuracy seriously. If you find an error, please email [email protected] with the article link and, ideally, a source. We review every report, correct confirmed errors promptly, and update articles when rules or formats change.
Sponsored content and advertising
Our editorial content is independent. If we publish sponsored content, it will always be clearly labelled “Sponsored”, and any paid links will carry the rel=”sponsored” attribute. Advertisers and sponsors have no influence over our other articles.
